Jeremy & Tara // Engagement

Updated: Aug 5, 2018

Back in February Jeremy reached out to me wanting to plan a surprise proposal for his girlfriend Tara. I was very excited to help. When the day of the shoot came I think I was more nervous than he was because four months of prep were going to come down to one exact moment. We had carefully orchestrated the poses and code signals so Jeremy would know exactly when to make his move. The plan was that I would pose them in a position in which Jeremy was behind Tara with his arms wrapped around her. At that time my assistant placed in the ring in Jeremy's back pocket. After a few shots I had Jeremy step back out of the shot "because I wanted to get a few of just Tara". Just a simple ruse to distract Tara so he could get down on one knee. As I watched Jeremy step back and kneel I was so excited my hands began to tremble. Tara followed my directions very seriously, so much so that she didn't even see him! I had to continue to instruct her to follow my camera as I circled around further to get Jeremy into her field of view. What couldn't have been more than 15 seconds felt like minutes for her to notice Jeremy kneeled only two feet away. She was totally surprised and it was a very special moment that I was so excited to be a part of.
